MAIN CHARACTERS
Mackenzie Allen Phillips
He is the main character of the novel "The Shack". He portrays himself as a caring and brave father. Mackenzie was abused as a child by his father which resulted in his having a traumatic life. The death of his daughter Missy brings him great grief and guilt. He becomes overwhelmed with everything as he learns that his sweet daughter might have been abducted and murdered. Throughout the novel, Mackenzie displays himself strong man that holds the capability of enduring life's difficulties.

Papa (Elious)
This character is displayed as a black woman, Mackenzie feels comfort and love from Elious because she tells him that he should let out all his feelings as it does the soul good. As she stretches out her arms to Mackenzie he feels the warmth and love as he did from his mother. Also, known as Papa she show Mackenzie that Missy is in heaven with Jesus and she later takes him to find Missy's body. Mackenzie is able to see the depth of God's love with the help of Papa.

This character is depicted as an Asian woman who assists Mackenzie in reaching enlightenment. When Mackenzie meets Sarayu, he assumes she is a gardener. Her presence makes Mackenzie feel as if a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders. When Mackenzie cries Sarayu catches his tears in a bottle and later uses if to show him that even sad tears have a purpose. She later pours the tears out onto Missy's grave and flowers grow. When Mackenzie was only able to see sorrow in his life, Sarayu helps him to find the joy that God gives, even during the pain of losing his beloved daughter.

Sophia
A person who is believes to be connected to god in the book, She plays a big roll in the book as she is the person who reveals everything that Mack didn't want to know to him. She basically teaches him the hardest lesson he will ever learn.

Little LadyKiller
a serial killer who kidnaps young girls and murders them. He is also known for disposing the bodies away from the scene of the crime. Also leaves a signature of his presence, which is a a ladybug stick pin which container the number of children he has kidnapped. The number is repersented as spots on the lady bug.

Kate and Josh
Mackenzies two other children who are older than Missy. When Mackenzie goes to save Josh when he is in trouble the Little LadyKiller Kidnapped Missy.

This is Mack long time friend who he talks to at the start of the novel and also reappears just before the climax of the novel. Willie is actually William Paul young just integrated as a different person, as he plays this character he throws in a new of his feelings.
